HELP SAVE ANNIE’S YOGA STUDIO!
November 7, 2004
We are a community. When a yogi is in trouble, we need to rally and help.
Annie’s Yoga Studio in Sherman Oaks was founded in 1988 by Annie Ralston. Upon Annie’s passing, her student Dario Velasquez took up the studio’s mission of providing an affordable, unpretentious neighborhood center for the study and practice of yoga. Many San Fernando Valley residents have been introduced to yoga through Dario’s teachings and have come to be a part of Annie’s.
Unfortunately, Dario has suffered from a progressive illness for the last several years. The resulting downtime has put the studio heavily in debt and has also left Dario with large medical bills and expenses.
The studio is faced with the probability of closing if something is not done soon.
This is where we come in.
The students and staff of Annie’s Yoga Studio are responding by organizing a benefit to “Save Annie’s”. The yoga community is asked to gather at Annie’s and offer its support. It will be a festive, affirmative day of music, food, art, chanting, meditation, breathing, asana practice and more. There will be raffles, door prizes and silent auction of the products and services donated by concerned businesses and individuals. Tickets are $ 25 in advance, $30 at the door.
Please do what you can to SAVE ANNIE’S YOGA STUDIO. If you would like to attend, participate in the organization of the event or contribute materially, contact Steven Vincent, Dario’s new partner at Annie’s. Schedule for the day is
2pm - 8pm and can be viewed at www.anniesyoga.com/yogaparty.html.
