Yoga & Ecology :
Both Yoga and Ayurveda are all about working with the forces of nature. These are not just material energies but powers of consciousness.

This work with nature occurs at both internal and external levels. Internally, we need to balance the forces of our own nature as body, mind, breath and spirit. Externally, we need to harmonize ourselves with the world of nature and with the Cosmic Spirit behind it. Each one of us is a manifestation of the entire universe and only when we discover the universe within ourselves can we really understand our purpose in life.

The Greening of Yoga: Although we may begin yoga by working with the alignment of muscles and bones, the realization of its spiritual levels comes through doing the practice. Laura Cornell, director of the Green Yoga Association understands this and looks to the power of yoga to manifest the transformation of consciousness.

Vastu 101: Think back to a time when you walked into a room and immediately felt something was wrong. Or maybe you’ve had the experience of working in an office where no one could get along, or you or your co-workers were always getting sick. The ancient science of Vastu Shastra tells us that it might not be you that’s out of whack; it may be your space.

Save our Endangered Invisible World: The American Environmental movement as we’ve come to know it has largely run its course. It suffers from a lack of imagination and, despite the fact that its been right at least 50% of the time, a certain amount of shrill paranoia that has alienated, according to a poll recently reported in the “New York Times,” about 40% of the voting public.

Why hemp Makes Sense:
Despite its considerable benefits, hemp, like its more famous cousin marijuana, continues to get a bum rap.
From before the turn of the century until 1938 the United States Department of Agriculture predicted that hemp, the earth’s premier renewable natural resource, would become the number one crop in America. Jack Herer is an authority on hemp history, benefits and legislation. In his book, “The Emperor Wears No Clothes,” he tells us, fully restored hemp industries could generate over 500 billion dollars per year, replace our reliance on fossil fuels and do much to curtail our current rate of deforestation.

Srivatsa Ramaswami:
By Charlotte Holtzermann

You are sitting across from your doctor’s desk, after yet another sleepless night. No matter how much you tossed and turned, you couldn’t seem to get comfortable. Your low back pain just wasn’t eased by the painkillers or heating pad, and the racing thoughts from your stressful day at work wouldn’t slow down so you could enter dreamland. Just when you thought he might offer you a sleeping pill this doctor writes a prescription for yoga. Yoga?
The Truth About Heavy Metals and Ayurveda:

By Felicia Tomasko
The Bhagavad Gita, part of the epic Mahabharata, is one of India’s classical texts for leading a spiritual life. Literally hundreds, maybe thousands, of translations of the Gita are available but probably none of them make you laugh out loud like this one. But then, Ram Dass has never been known to do anything in an orthodox manner.

Sitting Down With Ed Begley, Jr:
By Julie Deife

Julie: How much time do you spend every day consciously cultivating and environmentally aware lifestyle?

Ed: To be honest, I think about it very rarely now. Back in 1970 when I started doing the things that I continue to do today, it required a lot of effort.

Julie: For example?

Ed: To recycle in 1970, you had to drive to one of two places that I know of in L.A. you could go to Sun Valley to a trash collection yard and they had a few bins for amber glass, green glass, white glass, and plastic milk jugs and newspaper. They had another one in Marina del Rey. and they were only open on sunday from noon to three.
